blair witch project

I believe the first post that I did was all about my love of Blair Waldorf's fashion, and how I was nervous about where her style was heading for Season Four, because I must say Season Three left much to be desired. But, alas, from these pictures of the first two episodes of Gossip Girl (filmed in Paris, so you know it's gonna be over-the-top), it seems like the Queen B is finally back. Take a look for yourself and tell me what you think!

this week's purchases

| comments

What I bought on my (semi-) successful shopping trip this weekend:

two tops from Anthropologie, both super duper cute!

Paige ultra-skinny black jeans. definitely my new go-to jeans. They're a perfect color, super comfy, and unbelievably flattering.

Also these shoes I picked up on sale at Anthro. Which is funny because at least at my local Anthro, they never have regular shoes, just shoes on sale...it's weird. But I love these shoes.

Plus-
The Tara Jarmons dress I got in Paris. Isn't it just adorable!?

So I went shopping yesterday. Wasn't as successful as I had wanted it to be, but I did get a few good things, and also saw some things that I might have to ponder over for a while.

One of these things is bags. I really want a new bag for school -let's face it, the Jansport backpack is just kind of cramping my style- but I feel like all these bags are too small because my teachers are all like 'we want you to have a different binder and notebook for each class and we will give you all Fs if you don't do as we say!!!!' and it's really annoying because it's like, We're upperclassmen now, why can't you trust us to organize by ourselves!!!!

And so, the hunt for the perfect bag begins.

I did manage to find two bags that I actually really like, but there are drawbacks to both of them.

Contestant Number One- Fossil 'Vintage Reissue Lock' Leather Crossbody Satchel

the pros- nice shape, love the details and the colors (also in darker brown and black, all of which I like) and it comes with both a shoulder strap and a handle
the cons- It may be too small, which could be a problem

Contestant Number Two- J. Crew leather top-handle tote

the pros- classic shape, very simple but also super chic, definitely big enough, also love the color
the cons- I like the messenger look for a school bag because I like that cross-shoulder strap. I guess this is long enough though to be carried on the shoulder

Right now I'm leaning more toward the J. Crew guy, but I really just don't know!!!

back to school. fool.

My back-to-school wishlist. It made sense in my head =)

Can't believe school is almost here again, though. Oh, well. I'm going shopping tomorrow, and hopefully I can cross some of these items off. Wish me luck!

Have you seen these Alaïa boots? Well, why not!?

I am a very picky girl when it comes to shoes. I am not easily impressed, especially because there are many shoes that I simply cannot wear because of my crappy feet. There are many requirements that a shoe must meet before it can even be considered as a possible purchase.

But goodness, these shoes may be the most beautiful things I've ever laid eyes on. The detail is beyond impressive, the shape perfect, the heel height nothing too extreme- the only thing I'm a little iffy on is the color. White is always risky, and I'm already conscious with shoes because I feel my feet look ginormous, but since these shoes are only a fantastic daydream, I'm going to ignore all possible setbacks.

Anyway, these shoes are truly works of art, and I will dream about them for many nights to come.

I've always loved ballet costumes. They are so lovely and detailed. And, of course, I'm addicted to tulle. Is anyone else really excited to see what else the Rodarte girls do for Black Swan?

Which Girl Are You?

| comments

Fall has many different "girls."

The question is, which girl is you?

 The Good Girl

The good girl is career-minded, and her wardrobe shows just that. She's sleek and strong, but with cute details that show her sweeter side. She can wear both neutrals and brights, light or dark, and knows how to style herself for success. Still, she is feminine and innocent, and never afraid of a short hemline -just nothing too short.

 The Diva

The Diva is never afraid to speak her mind, but you may not want to hear what she has to say. She comes from a life of privilege, and between her Daddy's credit card and her signature pout, she always gets what she wants. She's shopping's biggest fan, and lives her life in luxe knits, killer heels, and the best of the designer brands. She lives to be seen.

The Party Girl

The party girl is not afraid of loud prints, color, or embellishment. She thrives on fun, and likes nothing more than some dance music and a dress she can move to. She loves being the center of attention, so her party frock is always a reflection of her fun-loving attitude. The ultimate party girl dress? A fabulous sequin mini, of course!

 The Old-fashioned Girl

The old-fashioned girl is a perfect reminder of a day long-gone. She's sweet and pleasing and knows how to bake a mean apple pie. She is sensible and realistic, but always tries to exceed expectations. Her hems are long, her necklines nothing too low- she is, after all, a respectable woman- but she is very feminine and always looks polished and put-together.
(Prada; Oscar de la Renta; Maurizio Pecoraro; Marc Jacobs; Louis Vuitton)

The Rebellious Girl

The rebellious girl is not afraid to speak her mind, and she uses her clothes as an extension of that. She really doesn't care that much what people think of her, but she does like to look good in that whatever, thrown-together-at-the-last-minute kind of way. She knows how to clash prints and textures together, and of course, she is not afraid to use the color black.

So at the hotel my mom and I stayed at in Paris (Hotel Recamier; super fabulous, I highly suggest it) they had all this super cool decor, kind of a mix of modern and luxe and just kind of funky, but totally chic. My favorite thing was that on each stair landing, they had this bust, but each one was different from the last.

I don't know who the artist behind these mastermind busts is, but I did see a sculpture similar to the last one (with random red and blue stripes) somewhere else in the city. Anyway, just thought they were neat and wanted to share them with you!

Sometimes glam and casual make the best combination. And it helps when your best friend leaves her supercool sunglasses behind for you to borrow. :)

TIMELESS.

what's old is what's new. what's vintage is what's cool. what parents tell you now is what they experienced. what parents teach you is what timeless. because you will tell their story someday, to your child. and the same pattern will start to play again..

you may want to look away; you always can turn your ears deaf to their scolds; you might hate them for reasons..

but your heart will always realize that they love you. and your deepest mind will miss the way they complain how you behave when they're not by your side anymore..then every memories passed with love&hatred seems like dreams..and you always wanna be living in your past, even you definitely know the reality. but the truth, hurts.

Une Vie Yves Saint Laurent

| comments

So...Paris!

Oh, how I wish I had been there longer, but I did manage to sneak in a few real treats during my visit. The best one, in my opinion?

The Yves Saint Laurent Retrospective at the Petit Palais. I hadn't any idea it was there, but my mom and I were walking around and spotted signs for it, and we just had to go check it out. If you are as big a fan of fashion as I am and you're in Paris while the exhibit is still on display, I highly recommend it.

There were fifteen different rooms, each filled with the late designer's most impeccable pieces from every period of his career. I swear, there were probably around four-hundred different looks altogether. And the way everything was arranged- oh, it was beautiful.

Just a few highlights, but really, each and every outfit is magical on its own. It is just amazing to see the amount of detail and work that goes into every individual outfit. I mean, I get frustrated when I have to hand sew buttons on. Just think sewing on every last sequin on a ballgown! Fantastic.

So if you get the chance, try to stop by the show. You will not be disappointed, I promise.

more ideas for back-to-school shopping!

(from left: calderbrook blouse; In-the-lines cardigan; swan song skirt; mullany dress; dog trot cardigan. all from Anthropologie)

As always, I'll be making the rounds at Anthropologie, perhaps my favorite store around. Here are some pieces that I would really love to add to my wardrobe. The tank top especially I think could work for just about everything. With jeans, shorts, tucked into a high-waisted skirt, or with black leggings and my chunky Juicy Couture wedges. Both sweaters are super cute, and I just really like the color of the swan skirt. I don't think I have much purple in my closet.

(Miu Miu Fall 2010 campaign)

Like the majority of the fashion world, I am head-over-heels in love with Miu Miu's fall collection. It is just such a great example of how to create interesting shapes and details with fabric. As a collection, it shines, but each individual piece stands out as a masterpiece too. I mean, honestly, can you find one bad look from that show?

(from left: Jenny rocking the kilt on Gossip Girl: Poppy Moore (Emma Roberts) spicing up her uniform in Wild Child; the ever-chic Clueless crowd)

In elementary school I had to wear a uniform, so it's weird to think that I would ever want to be back in plaid and Peter Pan collars. But now that I'm in the world of whatever-I-want-to-wear, I wouldn't mind the prep school look every once in a while.

I have no idea what I'll end up buying when I finally do go shopping, but I will certainly keep these inspirations in mind.
