Emma Watson is a woman of many talents: for ten years she's dazzled the silver screen as brainy, frizzy-haired wizard Hermione Granger, she's a sophomore at Brown University, an Ivy League school, and she's managed to become one of the fashion world's favorite celebrities. For twenty, I'd say she's accomplished a lot. This summer will mark the end of the eight Harry Potter films, but I do hope that Emma continues to make movies or maybe just appearances. For a girl who's grown up with the Harry Potter books and movies, I'd say she's my biggest celebrity role model. She's gorgeous, she's smart, she's stylish; and more important than any of that, she seems to be pretty grounded for one of the highest-paid teenagers around. Really, I wish there were more Emma Watsons in the world.

Carey Mulligan

She gained momentum last year with her critically-acclaimed role in An Education, but 2010 was the real crunch time for Carey Mulligan. This year, Carey made appearances in two highly-anticipated movies: Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps was a sequel to the popular 1987 movie where she starred along side Shia LaBeuouf and Michael Douglas; and Never Let Me Go, the movie adaptation of the famed novel. But what stunned us even more than her magnificent acting was her clothing. Carey never fails to appear poised and pretty. She really does have star style, something that most celebrities are disregarding nowadays.

Far East Movement

No, I'm not talking about flying like a G6 (but now that I mention it, you could technically fly a G6 to the Far East...) I'm talking about the hottest trend off of the spring runways. Straight off the Oriental Express is a plethora of rice hats, silk, and kimono style dresses that will have everyone looking kawaii and cool.

Philosophy followed the Silk Road this spring and featured the updated version of the rice hat, along with adorable Japanese- and Chinese- inspired prints and some pretty cool kimonos.

Louis Vuitton carried on the oriental trend with more glamorous versions of the kimono, plenty of silk, and even the quintessential Chinese beast -the panda.

Marni was digging the prints of Asia and made the trend more accessible to minimalists.

 

Coco Rocha is the quintessential anime schoolgirl at John Galliano.

Haider Ackermann showed off his black belt-worthy skills with these gi-inspired looks.

That Look is So Last Year

Before my friend and I went out on New Year's Eve, my ten-year-old brother insisted on holding a photo shoot. This is why I love that kid.

The night was alright, but people need to stop trying to make New Year's a thing for teenagers and little kids, because it isn't. We aren't even allowed to be out where I live past eleven (not that that stopped us) so it's rather pointless. Still, I guess I managed to have some fun, and it was an excuse to dress up like the lovely girl above. Wow, she is just too cool for words.

Natalie Portman

She's everywhere right now, I feel like, what with her critically-acclaimed performance in Black Swan and her new gig with Dior. Natalie owned the red carpet this year with sweet and elegant frocks that channeled the costume of a beautiful ballet show, but still with a flirty attitude. We'll be seeing a lot more of Natalie this year in awards season, and I really hope she continues to wow us with her fantastic choices in clothes.

With one of the hottest shows on television and a real talent for singing, Lea has certainly up-ed her red carpet game. Some may say she's a bit of a diva, but regardless, her red carpet looks have really impressed me. Her look is perfect for a hot young starlet; everything is fresh and sexy but fun and sweet too.
